It's Official! Freemodel has entered the Tampa market

Agents: Freemodel is committed to helping your clients understand, embrace, and participate in the remodeling process. We hope you will share this and future articles with your sellers so they can maximize the sale prices of their properties and empower buyers to make informed decisions.

Hello Tampa! Freemodel is here to help home sellers get top dollar. Back in 2020, we launched Freemodel to help home sellers get top dollar for their properties through managed and financed remodels. We have a proven track record of success and happy agents and clients throughout California, and we are looking forward to making a great impression as we get to working on projects in Florida!

As Freemodel officially enters Tampa Bay, as well as Orlando, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and Miami, we will provide local sellers with an onsite project director and a team of trusted subcontractors. Your project director will manage the remodel of your client’s home to give your sellers the best chance at a high return once the house closes escrow. Our Tampa team is knowledgeable when it comes to unique buyer preferences, popular design trends, and specific neighborhood details.

As you are getting acquainted with Freemodel’s services and capabilities, we invite you to get to know our Tampa project directors, who described in more detail what their passions and strengths are within the design and remodeling world:

Christine Hoang

How would you describe Tampa’s architecture?

The most recognizable trait Tampa homes share is that they are mostly sprawling and beautiful single-story homes ranch-style homes. Although we're starting to see more houses being two or three stories high, the majority of them are single-story. Another known trait is having screened porches or sunrooms: Floridians love their sun, but the unwanted elements of nature such as mosquitoes or rain can be troublesome.

Amidst the bungalows, low-slung ranches, and Mediterranean-style revivals that have characterized so much of Tampa Bay's housing, modern and contemporary homes have really started to be the most predominant architecture style in Tampa. I personally love the clean lines and minimalist aesthetic paired with touches of Spanish-style arches and stucco finishes. You get a little bit of both worlds and it truly became my favorite aspect of Tampa’s architecture.

What aspect of your job as a project director are you most passionate about?

I love being able to bring my clients’ visions and ideas to life. Taking the stress away by being someone who clients can lean on is what I strive for. My superpower as a project director is being able to notice all the minor details. I take pride in my work and staying on top of the little things can make a huge difference. I also love adding my own touches to a design, whether it be splashing an unexpected pop of color or texture, adding in architectural details, or just making the space feel like a home.

Any last thoughts?

Just this: A home takes a village to make. Having the right project director can ease that process and eliminate any undesirable concerns.

Faith Walston

What are some recognizable traits of Tampa homes?

Tampa has many styles of homes. The old 1920s homes are my favorite; however, there has been an influx of modern homes that I enjoy as well. I personally really love the bungalows around the bay area. It is really exciting bringing them back to life.

What is your superpower or unique talent when it comes to being a project director?

My superpower is managing expectations and space planning. I really do believe that everything else comes together once you make sure the space functions properly. That in itself makes a home a much more beautiful space to be in, both visually and in terms of practicality.

How would you describe the mix of architectural styles across Tampa Bay?
After living in the area off and on for the past 35 years, I find the most notable characteristic of Tampa’s architecture is that it shows off the area’s history, both in terms of culture and diversity. The mix of all types of architectural styles is becoming more common. For instance, I’ve been excited to see classic postmodern homes and state-of-the-art contemporary ones pop up within some of the more traditional bungalow-styled neighborhoods. In most cases, these homes were side by side with other historic homes, but the overall atmosphere of the neighborhoods worked. Tampa really shows off its culture and history through lifestyle, architecture, interior design, and landscaping found in private residences and around town, making this feel like an ever-growing cityscape with a small-town feel.

What are you most passionate about in the home design and remodeling space?

My passion is all architectural design aspects of my career but my secret strength is seeing potential in even the slightest of projects. I love hard surfaces and textiles, tiles, marbles, granites, and stones and how they can transform a space in the most fabulous of ways!

Nicole Taylor

How would you describe the architecture in Tampa?

It’s eclectic, fun, and historical. Of course, there are plenty of Spanish-style, mission-style, and modern coastal homes. But in the middle of all this there’s Plant Hall – a National Historic Landmark built in 1891 by Henry B. Plant. It is a leading example of Moorish Revival architecture in the southeastern United States and a focal point of downtown Tampa.

What are some of your strengths that you’re most proud of in your line of work?

I have a passion for color and form that’s not restrained to a particular style. I enjoy mixing a variety of aesthetics old, new, and trendy to produce a harmonious space. I also excel in organization—just ask my clients!

Alexandra Cardenas

What is a typical home design or layout commonly found in Tampa?

Tampa has a lot of charming mid-century modern style bungalows that were built in the 1950s and 60s. These homes typically have an open, split floor plan with a high attention to detail and character. To me, these homes are what really distinguish Tampa, since they have stood the test of time.

Though Tampa is one of the fastest-growing metro areas, its architecture still preserves the historic landmarks that pay homage to the Spanish, Italian, and Cuban influences of the past. Tampa combines both new and old, from the urban-modern commercial buildings in the Channelside district to the colorful, brick-paved, industrial charm located in Ybor City.

What excites you most about being a project director?

When it comes to being a project director, I get really excited about all things aesthetic and consulting. I love mixing materials and combining textiles. I believe design is a very collaborative process: it’s important to be flexible and especially to be open to what the space calls for and what reflects the environment, vision, and lifestyle of the client.
