This circa 1908 home in Corte Madera contains a wealth of charm and historical value. Originally known as Moore's Hall, this was the meeting place for Corte Madera's Town Council back in the early 1900s. After being converted to a single-family 4 bd, 2 ba home, the interior features incredible natural wood and quirky nooks and angles. Agent Courtney Whitaker of Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty teamed up with project director Melissa Jones to add some modern conveniences to the property without disrupting any of its natural, historic charms.
To start out, the team installed new hardwood flooring that complimented the wood throughout the home and added a fresh coat of paint to every room. In the kitchen, the cabinets were painted and new stainless steel appliances were installed, all while keeping the original layout intact. New countertops were also installed and accents of new modern hardware were fastened to the cabinets and walls. The bedrooms were revamped with new insulation, sheetrock, and fresh paint, while the closet doors were adjusted to allow more functionality. Over in the bathrooms, new baseboards were installed and tile flooring was laid over them. A new toilet and vanity mirror were added, and the shower was upgraded with new nozzles and tiling. Moving to the exterior of the home, any loose or cracked paint was removed and refreshed with a fresh coat. The back deck and railing were freshly stained and any brick surfaces were power washed. In addition, the garage door was repaired and new rod iron fencing was installed around the property to add a touch of nostalgia.
Upon completion of this beautiful project, the home sold for $2,525,000, giving the owners a 150% return on their investment!
